My Teaching Philosophy
Science is about asking questions. Science is about searching to understand the world around you. In class, we will explore a number of topics and ideas. Some days we will have hands on labs, other days we will read, watch, discuss and take notes. Part of being a scientist takes incredible organization and focus. Another part of being a scientist is thinking outside the box to solve the problems we haven't even thought of before. The excitement of science is truly believing that you will succeed, you may be the person who loves to work hands on, you may be the person who is an amazing writer, you might be the person who is great with numbers and calculations. Science has a place for everyone and everyone needs science. To be responsible citizens of our ever changing world a basic understanding of the world is critical. We will focus on real world topics and constantly look to the ways that our topic impacts the greater world and how current scientists and engineers are tackling this problem.
Mini Bio
. I was born in Lakewood Colorado, but has also lived in Portland OR and New York City NY. I love to hike, bike, snowboard, ski, climb and camp. Mr. Leventhal is an avid music listener and Ultimate frisbee player. What kind of music do you love? What is your favorite book or movie? I love to talk about the world of science but I also enjoys cooking and spending time outside of school with my friends and family. I have 3 older brothers, one nephew and my parents live in Lakewood. I love to travel both within the state of Colorado and out of the country. I have travelled to 14 different countries and 36 of the 50 states. I studied chemistry in college and has been teaching science for 7 years in both the high school and middle school settings. I can't wait for another amazing year here at the Denver Green School!
